Scholastic Assessment Test
(SAT)

About the exam

The Scholastic Assessment Test, also known as the SAT, is a standardized test that is commonly used for college admissions in the United States. The SAT assesses a student’s readiness for college-level reading, writing, and math work. Undergraduate students in high school who wish to attend college overseas are required to take this standardized exam.
Colleges use the SAT to help them make informed admissions decisions. Although the SAT is not the only factor considered by colleges when determining admissions decisions, it is one of the most important.

The Curriculum

The SAT curriculum is organized into three major sections

Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW): This component assesses a student’s ability to read, comprehend, and write effectively. Reading comprehension, sentence completion, and critical reasoning questions are included in the EBRW part.
Math: This section assesses a student’s ability to comprehend and apply fundamental mathematical ideas. The Math area comprises arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis questions.
Optional Essay: Although this element is optional, several universities require or recommend that applicants complete it. The essay portion assesses a student’s ability to think critically and effectively communicate in writing.
