About the exam
The TOEFL is a leading worldwide English proficiency test administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to assess the level of English ability among foreign students and employees.
TOEFL is divided into two types:
TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): This is the most common type of TOEFL and is given on computers at test centers all over the world.
TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based Test): This type of TOEFL is only available in a few locations and is given on paper.
Why is TOEFL Important?
Academic Admissions: TOEFL scores are required for admission to many universities and colleges, particularly in the US.
Immigration: The TOEFL is required by some nations and visa applications as evidence of English proficiency.
Professional Opportunities: To be hired or promoted, some multinational corporations or industries may also require the TOEFL.

The Curriculum
The TOEFL assesses all four academic English abilities
Reading: This section evaluates your ability to read and comprehend academic literature. You will read three paragraphs and respond to a range of questions, including multiple-choice, true/false, and short answers.
Listening: This section assesses your ability to interpret spoken English. You will listen to four recorded lectures and conversations and respond to questions about what you hear.
Speaking: This section assesses your ability to communicate in English. You will complete four speaking challenges: one autonomous task, two integrated tasks, and one interpersonal task.
Writing: This section evaluates your ability to write in English. You will complete two writing assignments: one independent and one integrative.
The test takes just under 2 hours to complete, but you should plan for 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes for check-in.

Eligibility for the Exam
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam has no special qualifying requirements if you have earned your 10+2 diploma from an accredited Indian university or board. Anyone can take the test, regardless of their nationality, citizenship, or place of residence. There are no restrictions on who can register for the exam. Because of this, a large number of candidates can take the TOEFL. It acts as a standard for English language competency worldwide.
Exam fees
Although it may differ by location, the average cost of the TOEFL exam for Indian students is approximately ₹16,900. Local operating expenses, administrative fees, and regional taxes may cause price differences. These considerations may result in minor price differences for each test center. Students should confirm the precise cost at the testing location of their choice.
